Our layettes consist of a hand sewn, knitted or crocheted baby blanket, hand-sewn hooded towel and wash cloth, two receiving blankets, two onesies, two hand-sewn burp cloths, a sleeper, socks, cap, bib, diapers, wipes, and a book all packed in a reusable zippered bag. Brochures on Shaken Baby Syndrome and Safe Sleeping are included as well as a prayer card with a Miraculous Medal. Layettes are presented to needy newborns through local pregnancy resource centers, hospitals, and maternity homes.
Bereavement gowns are hand-sewn by our members. The gown, a crocheted bonnet and blanket, and embroidered overlay are given as gifts of love and comfort to parents whose pre-born or new born has passed away. Gowns are distributed through social workers at area hospitals and through local churches and as needed to those who contact us.
Elementary Hygiene Packets:
Travel size soaps, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, plus full size deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb and wash cloth are assembled in hand-sewn drawstring bags and given to local school nurses and social workers. These bags are distributed to children based on economic need.
Hygiene Packets for Homeless Students:
Homeless middle school and high school students receive full-size hygiene products in opaque drawstring backpacks in collaboration with the RRISD Families in Transition Program.
Caps & Gloves:
We make or purchase caps & gloves that are distributed to children in need at local elementary schools. School safety patrol student volunteers are among the first to receive these when the weather turns chilly.
We collect toys and board books for Bluebonnet Trails Community Services that are distributed to children in need in our local communities.
Members sign up for our monthly dinner delivery to the NEST in Georgetown to feed at-risk students. We provide a wholesome, homemade meal generously prepared with an extra measure of maternal love mixed in.
